93 LISBON POLICY
1/26
In the 70’s thousands of migrants from Cape Verde and Guine came to Portugal to work. Most of these people started to build their homes in the suburban areas of Lisbon and for many years they occupied those empty lands. The Government never payed much attention to the neighborhoods that started to be created with time.
Now they want to end these “slums” and whoever arrived in these neighborhoods after 1993 don’t have any right to be relocated, leaving thousands of people on the street. People are getting evicted from their houses without previous notices and all their belongings are destroyed with the house.
